I love scotch ales and usually that's all it takes for me to pick one up and put in my cart. This Ale is not as smooth as the ones I've had in the past and the taste is a little bitter even though the IBU was only 25. Maybe bitter isn't the right word but more like stale. It's been in my fridge for a couple of months but a good Scotch Ale should improve with age not get worse. This is a one-timer.

Smooth and refreshing with a hint of hops. Slightly sweet with more flavor than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Warm amber tone. Staff of Life $4.50

Beautiful sweet scotch ale. Smokey gold color, no head to speak of. Manages to play around with tastes found in much heavier beers, but is still incredibly drinkable. Like Alfred Hitchcock compared with Igmar Bergman. This would go great with stew.
