Pretty smooth. I saw citrus on the bottle and was worried but actually it offsets the bitterness quite nicely.

Goose Island IPA is a decent and serviceable IPA. It has has a mild citrus odor on nosing. But that is only a mild hint. Not hoppy tasting.
