Awesome winter beer with a hearty meal. "Ye Shall Know the Bastard, and the Bastard Shall Set You Free."

Lotsa flavor, still trying to figure out exactly what.
Bottle, home, Dec 2015.

Wow.. Absolutely blown away by this, cuz I absolutely hate the original.. But this has a huge malty character with a touch of hops, stone threw me a pleasant curve ball here ... Weirdly enough I had it on tap as a "guest" beer at Smuttnose's new brew pub in New Hampshire...4 stars

B. Malty with strong hop presence. Drinking a 2007 in 2017, the hops are still a bit present in the aroma and in the flavor, along with sherry, alcohol, caramel malt. A for sure.

Drinking a 2008 right now (it's 2015). Aging beautifully!! Notes of butterscotch, toffee, sherry, and unicorn farts (yes, it's that good!!). This might be the mystic sneech your looking for.
If, by some stretch of the imagination, you can find this vintage, well aged, sell your first born and buy it immediately. Don't think about it...DO IT!!
You'll be glad you did. You can always make another kid...but you will never have a beer like this again!!

Unfiltered, hoppy, clean taste. Minimal co2/head. Surprisingly refreshing, the ABV really sneaks up on you after sip 5. Sip being the key word, this beer needs to be cherished. Grab a dictionary when you read the narrative on the bottle.

Tan head murky dark auburn color. Nice fruity hoppy aroma. Malty coffee chocolate taste mild to average bitterness . Don't think it's worth the hype but not bad
