Strangest barley wine I?ve ever had. If you are a fan of the bitterness of a high quality IPA, the you must try this. Most barleywines I?ve had are quite smooth and low on the hops. This was very hoppy. It must change from year to year, which is confirmed on their website. This one was 10% abv. It?s good, but more hops than expected.

Snifter glass offering at Brew pub at Mall. Copper color, thin head. Very smooth with a nice malt to hop balance. High abv does not come through while sipping.

Strong somewhat charcoal taste.

Piney nose, comes across like a pale ale. Flavor attacks you all at once malty up front and a pretty hoppy finish that lingers. Very nice, and strong too!

Sweet and caramel. Hell on Wood without bourbon casks.

Bold, intense flavor on many levels, not for the faint of palate

The malt comes through stronger than the hops, but not in a bad way. This beer is very well balanced, with a nice surprise flavor behind the scenes. The barley wine is what is left behind as an aftertaste for you to enjoy between sips. Well balanced and a sneaky high 10.6 ABV, be careful with this nice brew.

From a huge ipa fan's perspective, this beer is all malt and no hops. Just saying... Hides it abv well however and is very drinkable but I would take duclaw's serum anytime.
