diverej - April 15, 2014Great flavor, dark roast notes and excellent hoppiness. Nice bite and balance.

jeneric1971 - February 16, 2014Real mellow IPA. Would of liked more of a hop bite on initial taste but still a very drinkable beer.

Dralla20 - November 19, 2013Nice black IPA with dark malt chocolate/coffee notes with nice hop bite.

Cowboy Mike - November 11, 2013Seems more like a porter than a black ipa, does not have the hop flavor I would expect in a black ipa. Overall a good beer, with a nice roasted character.

dlitolff - November 10, 2013Did not care for. Watery mouthfeel, plus had a char taste and I'm no fan of smokey beers. Anise flavor also. Would not buy. Bottle , November. 2013.

mrd775 - November 10, 2013I'm a huge fan of the annual estate release so I was disappointed that there would be none for 2013. I don't get excited by black IPA's. Nonetheless, I nabbed a couple bottles of this when I saw it. Overall, it's a very solid brew. It's just not really my thing. I'll enjoy both bottles while looking forward to the 2014 estate release.

mrd775 - November 10, 2013I'm a huge fave of the annual estate ale - one of my all time favorites. I was disappointed that they wouldn't be able to release it for 2013. I don't get very excited by black IPA's but I nabbed two bottles of this when I saw it. All things considered, it's a good beer. For me, it falls well short of the estate ale - probably due to my opinion of the style. I'll enjoy both bottles while looking forward to the 2014 estate release.
