One of my all time favorite beers. The only con is that it is too expensive. Definitely one of those beers reserved for special occasions.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first Belgian dubel that I have tried. I am more familiar with tripels and quadrupels. I found this ale to be very refreshing and flavorful. When poured, there was about a two finger head that gradually dissipated into a light, rocky foam at the top. The aroma was pleasant without having the overwhelming fruitiness of some quads. The taste was perhaps a bit less complex than the other styles, but I actually found that to be a good thing. This was a crisp, well bodied ale that I found very satisfying.

Amber colour, medium malty flavor. Nice balanced Trappist, not too mic alcohol.

For the price there are better beers. If you go Chimay go blue. This one is a little hoppy but smooth. Not a lot of bite.
