Belgo Centraal in Covent Garden - this is an interesting Belgian beer. Some upfront bitterness, but the beet sugars kick-in quickly. Definite hot alcohol aftertaste. Not my favorite Belgian, but worth a try if you haven?t had.

Very strong and malty. For a 12% abv it has a fairly mild taste, but not a beer I would normally choose unless I wanted a hangover the next day.

11/13/2014 - Belgo centraal in Covent Garden. The waiter told me not to order this; I expect most tourists don't like it much. Effectively a quad that pours a golden, brownish colour. Upfront sweetness and a pronounced, although not unpleasant, alcohol burn. Banana and honey-like notes follow, and a second alcohol burn finishes. This brew is not for everyone - the 12 percent ABV hits you like a freight train.

APPEARANCE - Peachy orange, slightly opaque. Creamy, light brown, 4-finger head that lasts, with lots of lacing
SMELL/AROMA - A little sweet, piney.
TASTE - Quite sweet, fruity, Sherry-like, and mildly piney. ABV fairly well-hidden.
MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Surprisingly well-carbonated, thick and a bit syrupy.
OVERALL - A very well balanced Tripel. The sweetness works, and the ABV doesn't hit you. Quaffable, but not chuggable. Do not limit this to dessert only.
