This is simply one of the best stouts, if not THE best stout, out there. The first whiff is so alluring, like dark rum raisin. The taste is an intoxicating blend of malt, raisins, caramel, and dark toffee. And it continues to evolve as it warms in the glass. This is the stout standard.

Very boozy. Pours black, with minimal head. Flavor is strong bourbon, with nice notes of chocolate and coffee. Great sipper. 2016 & 2017 edition is as good as the last time I had this.

Great in the proper glassware and goes straight to the head. Bourbon taste and aroma. A friend is a aging 5 and will sample one each year.

In an age where "over the top" is the norm, this falls rightfully into place. Creamy head and nearly opaque mahogany in hue. Roasted malt & coffee overtones dominate the nose. Big and malty on the palate, this is a very well balanced "big beer" - no alcoholic heat discernible. Damn, am I glad I stumbled across this one.
